The "Autumn Weekend Waiwai Wine" event offers visitors a free shuttle bus to and from three wineries: Katashimo Winery (Kashiwara City), Asuka Wine (Habikino City), and Kawachi Wine Museum (Habikino City). Visitors can enjoy a brewery tour and tasting at each winery, as well as enjoy snacks to go with the different wines, wine-related workshops, live music, and more.
At Katashimo Winery, visitors can enjoy a tasting of Japanese brandy grape using Osaka's representative variety, Delaware, and at Asuka Wine, visitors can enjoy wine tasting in a special space such as a vineyard. At Kawachi Wine Museum, visitors can enjoy a rare experience of wine tasting in the wine cellar before shipment, which is not open to the public even during daily winery tours.
Wine tasting at each winery is available for a fee.
The Kawachi area was the largest grape-growing area in Japan in the early Showa period (1926-1989), and wine production is also thriving in the area. Katashimo Winery is the oldest winery in Western Japan in existence, having begun wine production in 1914.
